2ZLER X 9- THE TWINS X 9

2zler bu sene 26 Şubat'ta 9 yaşlarını doldurdular.

Artık "dedeleriyle," Lâliş'leriyle eskisi kadar ilgilenmiyorlar, oysa hayatlarında ne kadar önemliydik- onlar da bizim! Beraber patlamış mısır yiyerek animasyon film seyretmek, yatmadan önce Red Kit okumak geçmişte kaldı. Bizi görür görmez üstümüze başımıza çıkmaları, şapkamı kaçırıp beni kızdırmaları da! (Gerçi şapka meselesi hâlâ gündemde olabilir.)

Artık her yerde, her durumda yeni ayrılmaz arkadaşları tabletleri ve onlar üzerinden ulaştıkları oyunlar.

2zler ve bir akrabaları obsesyonlarını tatmin ediyorlar.

 

Şimdilerde karşılaştığımızda kısa bir "merhaba" ya alıyoruz, ya almıyoruz, sonra yine tablete gömülüyorlar. 

Onlarla birlikte bir İsviçre seyahati yapmayı çok istemiştim. Ben ilk defa 8 ve 9 yaşlarımda gitmiştim ve o seyahat beni derinden etkilemişti, 2zler benim o zamanki yaşıma yakın yaştaydılar ve ben onların nasıl etkileneceğini çok merak ediyordum. (Bkz.: "2zler x 6", 16 Temmuz 2023). Geçen yaz, yani 2025 Haziran ayında iki aile birlikte sevgili Brienz'imize gittik, ama oradaki göl ve dağ manzaralarının bile tabletteki oyunları cazibesine karşı pek şansları yoktu. Hele büyük bir günün sonunda Mürren'den dönerken birinin "çok kötü geçti. Hiçbir yere gitmeseydik sadece evde dursak... daha iyiydi " dediğini duymak beni bayağı üzdü. Sözler ve yüz ifadesi kameraya yakalanıp videoya kaydedildi.

Yanlış anlaşılmasın, çok eğlendikleri de oldu, birlikte bu seyahati yapmış olmaktan da memnunum- ama beni 1964 ve 65'te kanatlandığım gibi kanatlanmadılar!

The twins were exactly 9 years old this past February 26th and are now going on 10.

They have little interest in their "grandpa" or their "Lâliş" these days, though we were such an important part of their lives- and they ours! The days of watching animated films together while eating popcorn, of reading Lucky Luke comics at bedime, of them clambering all over us and snatching

my hat to make me angry, are long gone. (Though that last bit concerning my hat may still become topical!)

Their new best friends and constant companions in all places and at all times are their tablets and the games they play on them!

These days when we meet all we get is a brief "hello", if we get anything at all, before they dive back into their tablets.

I really wanted to make a Swiss trip with them. My first trips there had been when I was 8 and 9 and seeing as those journeys had such a profound effect on me, I was curious as to how their trip at around the same age would affect them. (See: "The Twins x 6", 16 July/ Temmuz 2023.) Last summer, that is to say the summer of 2023, we finally went there as two families to our very dear Brienz, but even the views of the lake and the mountains were no challenge to the tablet games. My greatest disappointment came after an especially grand outing, as on the return from Mürren I heard one of the twins say "it was really bad. It would have been better if we had gone nowhere and stayed at home". The phrase, which distressed me, was caught on video, along with his expression.

Don't get me wrong, they did have great fun at times, and I'm glad we made this trip together. But the journey did not give them wings as mine had given me back in 1964 and 65.
